More Than a Conference: Building Relationships That Last in Kenya
In Nairobi, a three-day gathering of pastors and ministry leaders became an opportunity to pray, serve, listen, and begin building relationships intended to last beyond the conference.
Three days. A gathering of pastors and ministry leaders. Conversations, shared prayers, practical challenges, and unexpected moments.
For Amazing Moments Global Outreach Ministry, the October 2026 pastors’ conference in Nairobi was about more than bringing people together for an event. It was about strengthening relationships with leaders already serving in Kenya—and discovering what might become possible when those relationships are built on faith, trust, and shared purpose.
The Work Before the Gathering
The day before the conference began, Amazing Moments Executive Director Michael Young and ministry partner Don Kremer visited Charter Hall to review the final preparations with Pastor Adipo and other local leaders. Chairs were being arranged, equipment was being checked, and the venue was being prepared to welcome attendees.
Not everything went according to plan. During setup, the team discovered that the available projector screen was too small for the room. With the conference beginning the next day, they searched for a replacement and returned with the equipment they needed. It was a practical challenge—and a reminder of the teamwork behind gatherings like this one.
Before leaving the hall that night, Michael, Don, Pastor Adipo, and local pastors joined hands and prayed over the conference. The room that would soon be filled with ministry leaders first became a place of preparation and prayer.
A Message Beyond the Conference Walls
On October 14, Michael opened the conference with a message that included an encouragement for believers to pray for the leaders of their nation. He urged those gathered to seek God’s guidance and pray that leaders of integrity and wisdom would rise to positions of influence.
One attendee later approached Michael to tell him how meaningful that encouragement had been. Throughout the gathering, Michael and Don met with pastors, exchanged greetings, listened to their experiences, and shared in prayer and teaching.
Those individual connections mattered. For a ministry centered on strengthening local leaders, every conversation was an opportunity to listen, learn, and better understand the people already serving their communities.
Hospitality and Practical Service
The gathering was supported in practical ways as well. Meals were provided for attendees, local team members welcomed people at registration, and raffle tickets were distributed for a smartphone giveaway. These details required coordination, generosity, and the steady work of people serving throughout the conference.
A Dinner That Pointed Toward the Future
One evening, Michael and Don spent several hours over dinner with Pastor Adipo and his family. They spoke about ministry, family, calling, and their hopes for the future. The conversation revealed meaningful areas of alignment with Amazing Moments’ vision of equipping leaders, reaching communities, and creating lasting opportunities for discipleship.
Michael also emphasized that partnership should not be rushed. Shared vision matters, but lasting ministry relationships require trust, discernment, and time. The conversation was encouraging; the next steps would be approached patiently and prayerfully.
Working Side by Side
During the conference, a member of Pastor Adipo’s family worked alongside Michael to help capture video footage. They discussed filming techniques, coordinated locations, and created material that could help communicate the ministry’s work beyond Kenya. When the original filming plan changed, they adapted and completed an outdoor segment the following day.
It was another picture of local partnership in action: not simply arriving to conduct an event, but working alongside people already invested in ministry within their own community.
Finishing Through Changing Circumstances
The final day brought venue and travel complications that changed the team’s plans. Don continued ministering, and Michael was able to join the closing portion of the gathering, praying over attendees and anointing them with oil. Selected recipients also received smartphones through the conference giveaway.
Despite the disruptions, the gathering came to a close with prayer, ministry, and fellowship before the team departed for the next leg of the journey.
What Remains After the Conference?
A conference lasts only a few days. The relationships formed through it can continue for years. In Nairobi, Michael and Don had opportunities to learn more about local ministry leaders, encourage believers, support practical needs, and explore the possibility of future collaboration.
Amazing Moments believes lasting transformation is strengthened when local leaders are equipped, supported, and empowered to serve the communities they already know. Our role is not to arrive with every answer or take control of the work. It is to recognize where God is moving, build meaningful partnerships, and help strengthen those He has called.
The Nairobi conference was one part of that journey. As Michael and Don departed Kenya, the most important question was not simply what happened during those three days, but what these relationships might become in the years ahead.
At Amazing Moments, we are not simply investing in events. We are investing in people—and in the lasting work God can accomplish through them.
